She Ain’t Crazy is a soul-stirring, truth-telling book for every Black woman who’s ever been called too loud, too ambitious, too emotional, or too much. Through sacred storytelling, prophetic insight, and unapologetic wisdom, Dominique King invites you to break down, break open, and break through.
Here's the thing.
I don’t care what nobody says....Black women are not crazy. (well the vast majority). No, we are cornered. We are conditioned. We are chronically coping with chaos and calling it composure.
And while the world scrolls past our breakdowns and claps for our bounce-backs, we carry the weight of being whole when we’ve never had room to unravel. I don’t know who needs to hear this... but if you’re tired, angry, weeping, anxious, uncertain, or just over it...you’re not crazy. You’re in conflict with a culture that expects you to serve your way out of suffering.
Let’s talk about it.
Black women are twice as likely to experience serious mental health conditions and less likely to receive care. We hold the highest rates of high blood pressure, heart disease, and untreated trauma (stress-related.) We are the most educated demographic in the U.S. yet remain underpaid, under-resourced, and overexposed. And in the age of social media? We’re expected to package pain for content and call it resilience.

We say, “I’m fine” while screaming inside. We post “soft life” aesthetics while clutching grief behind the filter. We turn exhaustion into excellence, anxiety into performance, and call it strength. But what if we stopped calling survival “sanity” and started calling it what it is: a slow unraveling of the soul?
The word crazy has been weaponized against women for centuries. Against Black women, it has meant:
- Loud when we advocate.
- Defiant when we ask questions.
- Unstable when we cry too long.
- Ungrateful when we say we need help.
- Overreacting when we tell the truth.
But here’s what I want to suggest: We don’t need to dismiss the word...we need to reclaim it.
If crazy means being unwilling to play small, finally saying “I can’t do this anymore,” not letting your healing wait another decade...then baby, maybe we need to be a little crazy to get free.
God has never been threatened by what we call “too much.” Hannah prayed with such intensity that Eli thought she was drunk. Mary said yes to something that would have made her look delusional. Jesus spit in mud and healed a blind man. The prophets walked naked. The disciples doubted. The early church turned the world upside down.
So why do we keep thinking that feeling deeply disqualifies us?
This book is not your prescription. It’s your permission. To feel. To question. To say yes. To fall apart and still be held by God.
What follows isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula. It’s a living, breathing rhythm of surrender. These are the 4 stages of a YES to God that I’ve walked...sometimes crawling, sometimes crying, most times laughing my way through, and that’s:
DISCONNECT - You’ve got to unplug to hear Him clearly.
DISCOVER - You don’t just stumble into purpose, you seek it.
DEVELOP - You can’t deliver a message you haven’t matured in. This is where you invest in your growth.
DELIVER - Now you show up. Not as the version people expected, but as the one God prepared.
This is a book for the woman who's shouting in the silence. For the preacher who’s doubting her prayers. For the mama who’s holding the family but losing herself. For the girl who’s too gifted to give up but too tired to go on.
So no, you’re not crazy. You’re becoming. And that process? That fire? That tension between trusting God and telling Him off in the same breath?
Girl that’s sacred....ask me how I know?

It can be challenging to accept that God's plan may differ from our own, especially when we face disappointment or uncertainty. But, it is in these moments that our faith is not only tested but strengthened. We are called to trust in God's sovereignty, knowing that God’s ways are higher and God’s thoughts are greater than our own.
